Vietnam Targets 8 Million Foreign Arrivals in 2014

Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) predicts a continuing growth of the industry in 2014 despite the negative impacts from the global economic recession. According their official website, tourism efforts in 2013 were geared on programs focused on quality and effectiveness.

The Vietnam Tourism Association echoes the same prediction. According to its Vice Chairman, Mr. Vu The Binh, the country’s tourism industry will maintain the growth momentum of 2013 and the previous year. He added that even the country is not beyond the influence of global economic crisis during the two previous years, businesses have learned to adapt, recover and overcome difficulties. Because of such, Vietnam's tourism is no longer threatened largely with the crisis.

With the 10% continuing growth predicted by VNAT translates to eight million expected international tourist arrivals to the country, 37.5 million domestic tourists and tourism revenues of VND230 billion (US$10.8 million) for 2014. To realize the target, VNAT have joined several international tourism events and set up various promotional activities across Vietnam.
