After GrabTaxi, the revolutionary app which allows clients to hail a cab through their smartphone, a new app is now making the rounds again in Ho Chi Minh City. GrabBike is the latest app from the same Malaysian-based company which lets users rent a xe om (motorbike taxi) from their iOS or Android mobile phone.

   GrabTaxi was launched in 2012 and was so successful that at present, it has expanded its company to six other Asian nations: Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and Vietnam. GrabBike is guaranteed to be a faster and safer alternative than the traditional hiring of a xe om because instead of having to go through the usual bargaining and even risk being overpriced, the new service contains such important details as the driver’s information, his picture, and the license plate of the vehicle. Potential xe om drivers are required to give their complete personal data like a state ID, driver’s license, residency certificate, etc. before they are officially named as such.

The GrabBike app will initiate its service in Ho Chi Minh City before opening in other cities and countries, another triumph therefore for Vietnam for engaging in such a technological advancement.
