Tra Que Vegetable Village: Nature Given, Man-Made Diligence

Tra Que Village is located at Cam Ha Commune, Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province. It is a favorite tourist destination because of its readily-available tours taking them to unique villages to see farmers in action.
Tra Que Village was founded more than 300 years ago and encompassed by De Vong River and Tra Que Lagoon. Thus, the area is big and airy. Naturally too, the first inhabitants lived by the river and had a rich water resource for irrigation and drainage. Since many kinds of seaweed naturally grew in the river, residents understandably turned to planting vegetables. That is how the village was established and got its name.
Tra Que is located at a small path, so narrow in fact that only motorbikes and tricycles can fit through, from the main road of Hai Ba Trung leading to paddy fields and ponds for raising fish and ducks. The village is proud of its different species of vegetables such as leaf mustard, spring onion, and different varieties of aromatic herbs. Beds of vegetables are beautifully lined up in straight rows, a tourist attraction in itself. But the most important of all, the local farmers are diligent in taking care of their products from the planting to the watering until the harvesting process, after which the products are placed on motorbikes and/ or bicycles to be delivered to the local market for selling.
Tra Que Village is famous for producing fresh, good tasting, fragrant, safe and naturally cultivated vegetables. The farmers themselves are known for not using commercial chemicals that may be harmful to the consumer once they ingest the products. And it is because of this trustworthy quality that Tra Que Village was chosen to supply vegetables to hotels and even high-end resorts in Hoi An.
All in all, the success of Tra Que's vegetables and the village as a whole is a harmonious combination of natural blessings from Mother Nature and the local residents' hard work and diligence in harnessing their nature-given gift.
