The Tranquil Y Linh Ho Village, Sapa

Y Linh Ho village is located about 7 km southwest of Sapa town, on the west side of Muong Hoa River. It is a known destination for visitors who are looking for serene locations and get a first hand experience of interacting with hill tribes, specifically the Black H’mong who inhabit the area.

Visiting Y Linh Ho lets you enjoy scenery of beautiful valleys lying between mountains. But to get to the commune, one has to go on foot, as it is the only means to reach the Y Linh Ho. The fresh air makes the walk worth your while. You will also get to see several small hamlets put up in different areas through the tough mountain terrain. These belong to the Black H’mong tribes who cultivate corn and dry rice on the steep hillsides. It is noticeable that very dark clothing in blacks and navy dyed with indigo is the common clothing for them.

Reaching the village, you will spoilt with the beautiful and interesting scenery. A picnic lunch beside the Muong hoa river will be a great way to enjoy nature. If the weather is good, going for a dive could even be more fun. Continuing the trek through the lush rice terraces towards Lao Chai village and interact with the Black H’mong people, learn of their daily life and traditional culture, is both an enriching and humbling experience.
