The Secret of Thai Nguyen

The Secret of Thai Nguyen

Vietnam has always been known for its rich history and culture and amazing natural scenery. But in the Northern Province of Thai Nguyen in Vo Nhai District, there’s a secret haven that even some local Vietnamese residents know nothing about.

Only 120 kilometres from the capital, Vo Nhai District displays an enormous green tea plantation in the mountains which brings excitement and peace to anyone who sees it. But even on the way to the place, one will be greeted with a number of naturally breathtaking sights that will create a beautiful lasting memory for a long time to come.

Ho Nui Coc, the ATK guerrilla base, and Rong (Algae) River are just among the interesting places one will pass along on the way to Vo Nhai District. Rong River in particular is a popular spot in the area because of the dense algae enveloping the bed of the river. It is located at the Dan Tien Commune Area wherein small bamboo fishing boats also serve as a tourist attraction. Moreover, several ethnic groups such as the Tay, Nung and Kinh reside in the district, farmers who plant the famous tea plants of which the area has been eventually recognized for.

Than Sa Commune maintains a traditional provincial atmosphere with fresh air and streams to add more charm to the place. Mua Roi (Rain) Waterfall is a majestic fixture falling 30 meters from the mountain. In the same area resides the Mong ethnic group who live in a hamlet, another delight for tourists to witness.

The Than Sa Streamline is a magnet to history buffs because of its number of artifacts reminiscent of a 30,000-year old civilization. Snail shells, animal bones, working tools and even human skeletons were dug up in the area, clear evidence of an ancient community.

Mo Ga Mountain is named as such because of its sharp-pointed peak similar to a chicken beak. Specifically situated in the ranges of Phuong Hoang (Phoenix) Mountain, there is also a cave there with a water source and stalactites which tourists like to visit. Mo Ga Cave has more than stalactites, with stalagmites as well which serve as like a light against the dark interior of the structure. The cave is around 10-15 meters wide, 2-10 meters high and 300-400 meters deep with a stream inside which is worth exploring despite being very dark inside. The interior is so dark that people have to bring battery-operated torches in order to see the way inside the cave.

Thai Nguyen is so endowed with natural beauty that people from all over the world, especially those seeking tranquility, come to the place to discover its hidden secret.
