The Deck Restaurant: The Great Escape

The Deck Restaurant: The Great Escape

If you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, particularly of ${bigcity_Ho_Chi_Minh_City:”Ho Chi Minh City”}, Riverside the Deck Restaurant is the perfect getaway. The Deck is famous in the city for being a great escape from the noise and motorbikes of Ho Chi Minh. Newbies and long-time patrons alike seem to forget time when they are in the restaurant, bathing in the quiet, airy and simply spectacular view of the place.

The Deck Restaurant is reminiscent of a typical Vietnamese countryside. It has two bamboo-lined paths leading to a courtyard shaded by a large tree and decorated with lotus blossoms. With a riverbank across which is a paradise of coconuts, it is a perfect setting for a soul-soothing yoga class.

The restaurant has two main dining areas. Guests who prefer the traditional dining can enjoy their sumptuous meal inside, while those who want to breathe in the cool, fresh air can experience outdoor dining in the terrace.

The place is not the only thing that makes The Deck famous, but its food as well. It serves both contemporary Vietnamese food and international dishes, the latter being an interesting story. Adrian Scotti is the chef responsible for creating the international cuisine, a young English chef who decided to live and work in Vietnam after “falling in love” with the place, particularly with the street food of Vietnam. Scotti was amazed by the country’s tropical food culture, its love and use of such ingredients as herbs, spices, fruits, all wonderfully fresh.

What makes Scotti’s cooking different and exemplary is his fusion of his Asian influences and food from his homeland. Thus, he creates unique dishes such as duck and watermelon salad, and pineapple seafood ceviche. He uses such ingredients as ginger, chili, garlic, mint, coriander and sugar.

The Deck is just a convenient 20-minute ride from the city’s capital, perfect for a relaxing escape. With good food and quiet, beautiful place, nothing can be more perfect.
