The Beauty of Perfume River, The Beauty of Hue

Hue has always been known for its abundance of historically breathtaking sights and landscapes. Perfume River is definitely one of those. Perfume River runs peacefully and beautifully along Vy Da Garden, Thien Mu pagoda, Bach Yen River and Huyen Khong pier, all of which are spectacular attractions by themselves.

Hue is also popular for its number of “pleasure activities” like the “Releasing Boat,” “Playing with the Moon,” “Hue Singing,” “Sleeping on Boat,” and “Playing with Verse,” all of which sound very mysterious and interesting. All of these pleasure activities are connected with Perfume River and can only be found in ${bigcity_Hue:"Hue"}.

“Sleeping on the Boat” does not literally mean sleeping on the boat. The name signifies basking in the cool wind of the river, gazing at the beautiful moon and sky, and listening to beautiful songs while cruising along Perfume River.

“Playing with Verse” is a literary game which requires among players an extensive knowledge about literature. The game is not merely a play on words but requires a good plan and even strategies. At the end of the day though, aside from sharing (and boasting) your knowledge on the subject, you also get to learn new facts from others, developing new friendships in the process.

“Hue Singing” came from the combination of traditional music and royal music. It is an elegant kind of singing wherein tourists are made to sit on imperial boats reminiscent of the olden times, where kings and lords used to ride on, and there is a powerful orchestra playing at the hold of the boat with all kinds of traditional musical instruments. The orchestra is made up of young musicians all wearing the
traditional Vietnamese costume ao dai. The prow of the boats have a wide and airy space enough to bask in the beauty of the moonlight and fresh night air.

Perfume River becomes even more magical at night when the moon casts a spectacular, twinkling silver blanket on the river and the boats dance to the soft and peaceful wind, making the travelers feel at peace. Thien Mu pagoda can be seen across the river, a beautiful silhouette against the moonlight. Phuoc Duyen Tower creates a charming and romantic scene in the beautiful Perfume River.

Being in the Perfume River and in Hue itself is an experience tourists will always remember because of the historical value and beauty in itself that the place possesses.
