Tet Holiday Increases Vietnam Airline Flights

The country’s national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines, announced on Friday that it will increase its number of flights to 583 more to accommodate the high demand of travel during the Lunar New Year holiday, otherwise known as Tet --- the country’s most popular and most important holiday.

The announcement made on Friday was already the second after it made known its intention to increase its flight frequency around a month ago to prepare for the big celebration. According to the airline, between January 1 and February 20, 2011, it will add more than 100,000 plane seats on more than ten routes. This includes flight routes from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to the central city of Da Nang.

The peak time during the holiday season is between December 24-29 and January 3-13 wherein flights and other mode of travels are booked to the limit. It is during these days when passengers try to catch flights home for the celebration and make it back to work right after the holiday. That is why Vietnam Airlines also plans to launch a 24-hour flight to all their travel destinations to meet all client needs and demands.

Moreover, Vietnam Airlines announced that it will sell additional seats on December 10, December 20, January 3, and January 17. These added flights would greatly help reduce the congestion.
