The 10th Hue Festival will occur between April 27 and May 2, 2018. It is a biennial event so the Vietnamese take extra effort in making sure it is fun and extravagant as it is reflective of Vietnam’s rich history and culture.

Plans for the big event are still in their initial stages, but among the activities already lined up are a street carnival, an international food festival and a hot air balloon show. Traditional court music and dragon boat racing are also expected, as in every Hue Festival, in honour of Vietnam’s important customs.

The Imperial Citadel, a growing tourist attraction, has also been opened from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. since April of this year up to September to give visitors more chances of witnessing one of Vietnam’s most significant historical structures.

In the first quarter of 2017, Thue Thien - Hue Province welcomed more than 790,000 tourists from all over the world. This is a 2.7% increase in the same period last year. Of this, 313,000 are foreigners, a 13% rise.

Hue plays an important role in Vietnam’s history in that it was a royal city during the time when the Nguyen Dynasty ruled bet ween 1802 - 1945. This makes it a favorite destination especially for the history buffs. The Hue Festival in 2018 will surely entice more visitors to participate in one of the country’s most momentous festivities.
