Police found the treasure hidden inside the house of a local resident in Vinh Hanh commune in An Giang. The golden Buddha statue is said to be first discovered by a local fisherman in the southern Kien Giang province. But since it was first pulled in by the fisherman, the Buddha statue has been sold many times to different owners.

However, the names of these people who have bought and owned the statue were not released by the police. According to Nguyen Ai Viet, provincial Market Watch Department Head, antique experts will assess the date and value of the statue. More tests will be conducted to find out what exactly the statue is made of and how old it was.
