Photo contest opened for foreigners

The Hanoi Photography Association has launched the 41st photo contest on ${bigcity_Hanoi:"Hanoi"}, entitled “Hanoi feeling”.

The contest is opened for Vietnamese photographers and foreigners who are living and working in Vietnam.

Dang Dinh An, the association’s chair, said: “We do not want to receive more photos that repeat motifs like cultural festivals, streets, etc. Entries must clearly show the cultural characteristics of Hanoians, with feelings and depth”.

Entries can be color or black-and-white photos. Each photographer is allowed to submit up to ten 30x45cm photos (panoramas can be up to 50cm) and one 10cmx15cm photo for each entry.

The organizing board does not accept joint photos. Entries must be noted with the time and place where it was taken.

Awards will include cash and certificates, with VND5 million for the first prize, VND3 million for the second prize, VND2 million for the third prize and VND1 million for the consolation prize.

Photos which are selected for exhibition will have royalties and points will be recorded for the authors to consider as a member of the Hanoi Photography Association. The first, second and third prize winners will be considered to admit to the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.

The organizing board will receive entries until September 2011. The award ceremony and exhibition will be held on October 10.
