New cave discovered in Ha Long Bay area

One of the most beautiful natural caves in ${attraction_Ha_Long_Bay:”Ha Long Bay”} and Cat Ba Islands area has been discovered in December 2009 in Cat Hai District, Viet Nam. The cave is temporarily named the Golden Fruit (Động Quả Vàng), since the right ceiling of the cave entrance has a large golden block of stone looking like a golden fruit.

Động Quả Vàng is still in the natural untouched condition. It is about 25 - 30m high, over 30m wide, and nearly 100 meters deep. It is said to be one of the most beautiful in the area with an amazing variety of natural architectural creation.

The cave is divided in two chambers, each chamber has a different style of stalactites. The outer chamber contains numerous natural quartz sculptures, while the inner chamber looks somewhat like an exhibition hall of a skilled artist.

According to Mr. Vu Tien Ba, head of the tourism authority for Cat Hai district, the Quả Vàng Cave would be an additional attraction of the World Heritage area of Ha Long Bay. The decision, whether the Quả Vàng Cave will be opened to tourism, is still pending, since a road to the cave would pass a biosphere reserve protected area.

Cat Ba islands hosts a number of caves, like Động Thiên Long, Động Trung Trang, Động Quân y, Động Đá Hoa, Hang Ông Chừng, Hang Bà Đón, Hang Ánh Mả, Hang Dáng, which attract thousands visitors yearly.
