Mekong Delta a Natural Environment for Investors

Mekong Delta a Natural Environment for Investors

De Heus LLC Vietnam is a Netherlands-backed, Dutch-invested company which aims to bring in investment in Ho Chi Minh City. And in a conference held last May 22, General Director Nguyen Thanh Hoang confirmed this commitment by stating that the company will put up an additional animal feed plant worth $15 million and a $3-million aqua-culture research centre in Vinh Long Province.

In the same province, the company already has an aqua-feed plant (worth $12 million) operating and in productive status. In 2009, Mekong Delta was chosen as the ideal location for the company's brewery because of its big population and one-of-a-kind culinary culture which makes it conducive for a beer market to flourish. Named Sapporo Vietnam, the beer company almost quadrupled its annual production in Long An Province. And after just two years of running its business, Sapporo beer is now accessible in 4,000 outlets all over Vietnam.

Aside from its large population and unique culture, Mekong Delta has several other advantages including good geographical position, agricultural and aquatic products, cheap land fees, low-cost labor, improved traffic infrastructure, and upgraded waterways. As such, it is now expanding into other businesses such as processing industries and even tourism-related sectors like real estate, food and beverage services, and hotels. The delta's abundance in such products as rice, seafood and fruit makes processing business possible while European investors are interested in the tourism potential of the area.

From 2011-2013, 271 projects entered Mekong Delta equalling to $2.3 billion in registered capital. With this positive environment for investment, the local administration has stressed its intent on providing the best conditions for investors to continually come in.
