Lung Lo Pass: Legendary Beauty

Lung Lo Pass is so much more than it seems. Beyond its beauty is a history of battle that makes it an interesting tourist destination today.
 
 
Lung Lo Pass is situated between the provinces of Yen Bai and Son La. It is 15 kilometers long. During the time of war 57 years ago, it was the main road wherein soldiers of the revolutionary army were moved sent in food and other supplies to fight against the fortification of Dien Bien Phu.
 
 
A witness to another struggle, Lung Lo Pass also suffered 2,000 bombs thrown by the enemy, with an estimated density of almost 12,000 tons of bombs daily.
 
Three years ago, Lung Lo Pass faced another challenge when a Hurricane No. 7 hit the area. Massive floodwater from rushed down from the peak, destroying the historical pass significantly.
 
 
Today, Lung Lo Pass is so narrow that even a trusty motorcycle will have difficulty crossing it. One has to walk through for safety. The Khe Pass can be an alternative route especially when travelling to Thuong Bang La or Muong Coi, but adventure seekers will consider passing through Lung Lo successfully a feat.
 
Thuong Ba La or Muong Coi offers visitors sumptuous local delicacies, and of course the breathtaking beauty of the pass, along with other nature's blessings such as awe-inspiring mountains, valleys, rice and corn fields.
