Lo Go-Xa Mat National Park: Rare Beauty

Lo Go-Xa Mat National Park: Rare Beauty

Lo Go-Xa Mat National Park can be found at Tay Ninh Province. Composed of 18,765 hectares, it is considered to be the biggest forest cover in the region. It is located between 5-10 meters above sea level and divided into three zones: Strict Protection Zone (8,590 hectares); Ecological Restoration Area (10,080 hectares); and Administrative Service Area (the remaining hectares).

Apart from its vast size, the famous park is also blessed in both plant and animal life. It has a rich vegetation area equivalent to a forest classification and divided into deciduous, semi-deciduous, evergreen and mangrove forests. The former is located at a narrow strip on the lowland part of the area while the latter can be found along the rivers and streams. Immense grassy marshes with sedge mats strabismus can also be seen near the border with Cambodia. The park is also composed of wetland habitats which include seasonal flooded grasslands and forests, permanent lakes and watercourses.

Legumes such as water oil, oil sands, oil bottles, oil and her song, so dark and candle latex are just some of the flora that Lo Go-Xa Mat is rich in. Even rare species listed in the Red Book can also be found here: typing te; Christmas flavor; and milk desert.

Aside from one-of-a-kind flora, Lo Go-Xa Mat is also home to endangered fauna, particularly birds. Water birds like giang sen; pheasant feathers purple; red chicken cash; and shots chach gray cheeks. Even the rare flying bird red-headed crane can be found at the park. The latter is a migratory bird which usually breed in Cambodia but stop and stay at the park. This is one main reason why Lo Go-Xa Mat National Park is considered to be among the significant bird areas in the whole of Vietnam.

While Lo Go-Xa Mat National Park is a tourist attraction which receives a multitude of visitors each time, it also serves as a studying ground for researchers who come to the park to observe and learn about the flora and fauna. And based on their scientific assessment of the area, aside from the important plant and animal populations that Lo Go-Xa Mat is already cradling, it is also taking care of such species as Germain's Peacock Pheasants (Polyplectron germaini) and Siamese Firebacks (Lophura diardi). Like the Red-Headed Cranes earlier mentioned, the park also stands as a stop-over for the Sarus Crane (Grus antigone) which migrates between the Mekong Delta and Northern Cambodia.

Since Lo Go-Xa Mat National Park is home to rare species, conscious and regular efforts are made to develop and preserve the delicate ecosystem. This will save not only the plants and animals at the park but also bring in more tourists and in a larger picture, more development for the province and progress for the whole nation.
