Imperial Citadel: Cultural and Historical Park

In honor of its 1,300 year old value, The Hoang Dieu Archaeological Site and the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in ${bigcity_Hanoi:"Hanoi"} will be transformed into a cultural and historical park. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the plan for the major transformation of the ancient, historically significant relic. He pointed out specific instructions on the master plan, stating that it should “preserve the architectural vestiges, artifacts and archaeological remains.” It will also “establish an architectural harmony between the landscape and the Ba Dinh Political Centre.”

The transformation of Thang Long Imperial Citadel into a cultural and historical park is proposed to be inside the Ba Dinh Political Centre, next to the National Assembly House. It covers  a total land area of 45, 380 square meters. The special project is currently under construction.

On the other hand, the Hoang Dieu Archaeological Site is planned to be connected with the NA House and the Citadel relics by four gates to make it easier and faster for visitors to access the place. The streets of Hoang Dieu, Doc Lap, Hoang Van Thu and Bac Son will be the linking passages of the new historical structure.

As the structures are already historically important in their own rights, its transformation into cultural and historical parks will make them an even more significant and established chapter of Vietnam history.
