Hue Festival 2010 Concludes with a Record Number of Visitors

According to public statistics of Hue Festival 2010, this year event successfully attracts a record number of tourists. During the period from June 5 to 13, the biennial cultural festival recorded 120,359 visitors, an increase of 30% in compare with the previous event in 2008, and among which 28,596 audiences are international arrivals. Tourists from Europe, as the first time, remarkably hit 34%, Northwestern Asia visitors accounted for 14%, arrivals from Americas took 14% and overseas Vietnamese recorded more than 12%.

Within nine days and nights entitled “Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development” toward the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long- Hanoi and the mark of the 50th anniversary of cities relationship Hanoi – Hue - Saigon, the festivity gathered 70 domestic art groups and many international art troupes from 28 countries, from ancient capitals and cities of World heritage to perform hundreds of cultural programs, traditional and royal festivities with 6,500 professional and non-professional artists as well as public performers. The various venues of entertainment arranged at the center of Hue City and other major economic regions of Thua Thien Hue lifted the barrier of languages, distances and times to bring people close together in a friendly and peaceful hospitality of the host country. With the unique settings, Hue consecutively affirms itself as the first festival city of Vietnam.

The closing ceremony on the evening of June 13 featured by thousands of marvelous lotus lights on the Huong River lightened the romantic beauty of its streams on the background of lovely songs and dances has concluded the most extraordinary and memorable festival. The romance settings of scenic performances, splendid fireworks hanging in the sky and colored lanterns floating along the river sent the traditional thanks and goodbye to International friends from Hue Citadel, the rendezvous for ancient cities and World Cultural heritages. All are like the invitation for a reunion at Hue Festival 2012, the event plans to highlight the year of national tourism.

Hue Festival 2012 will be officially launched on the first Saturday evening of April, 2012. The reunion of the national premier art event is marked on the calendar as April 7, 2012.
