Hue: Audio Guide, Free Wi-Fi and E-Tickets Installation to Better Serve Its Tourists

Hue City in Thua Thien-Hue Province is known for its historical and cultural structures which makes it a favourite tourist destination among international and local visitors alike. In order to better serve its visitors then, the city has proposed to set up several systems such as an audio guide, e-tickets and free Wi-Fi in its attraction areas.

According to Phan Tanh Hai, Director of the Centre for Preservation of Hue Former Citadel Relics, the audio guide system will be set in five languages with English as the major language. The other four languages will still have to be decided. It will be situated at the royal citadel and other major tomb sites in the city.

Hue City used to be called the Imperial City. The province itself is rich in historical edifice like pagodas and other important cultural relics. It is no wonder then that many tourists, both foreign and local, visit the place the whole year round. During the National Day weekend last September 2 and 4, around 58,000 visitors entered the province to celebrate the event. In the first eight months of this year, foreign visitors to Hue City increased to 36.5% compared to last year or more than half of the nearly 1.8 million tourists who visited Thua Thien-Hue Province.

As of date, there is no fixed schedule yet as to when the system will be launched. Moreover, the system is not free. Tourists will have to pay for the audio guide as well as the entrance tickets. But city government of Hue is confident that this will further boost the tourism in the whole province.
