Hop-on Hop-off Tourist Bus Service Debuts in Ho Chi Minh City

Hop-on hop-off is an international city bus service that gained global recognition because of its easy access to tourists all over the world. And after a six-month trial period, it has officially operated in Ho Chi Minh City.

A ticket worth VND199,000 (US$8.8) and is valid for 24 hours gives tourists the option to get off at any destination around the down town area like Ben Thanh Market and Independence Palace. A tour to the Cho Lon area costs about VND100,000 ($4.4) and includes places such as Chinatown, Thien Hau Pagoda and Binh Tay Market in District 5. The amount covers a combination of the said places. If bought separately, the ticket costs much higher, VND149,000.

The buses run around the city from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and are conveniently designed with Wi-Fi as well as audio guides in English, French, Korean and Spanish. Maps of the routes are also available inside the vehicle.

Hop-on hop-off is not the first tourist bus service to operate in the city though. Two other routes have already been plying around Ho Chi Minh City, bringing tourists from downtown to Tan Son Nhat International Airport. But with the addition of such service, Ho Chi Minh City hopes to welcome even more foreign tourists this 2016, an expected 5.1 million visitors from all over the world or over 10% increase than in 2015.
