Hon Tam Island Opens its Ports

Hon Tam Tourist Site is an island seven kilometers southeast of ${bigcity_Nha_Trang:"Nha Trang"} coastal town. Its white sandy beaches and palm trees lining the area makes it a popular tourist destination, both local and foreign. But to get there, visitors had to take a 10-minute ferry ride exclusively operated by the establishment. The trip costs between VND250,000 (US$12) and VND500,000.

Starting last April 15 though, Hon Tam Island opened its docks to other travel agencies. The once-private port now allows other boats to enter and leave the area to transport local and foreign tourists.

This new system benefits the tourists mostly. With the new competition between travel agencies, visitors planning to go to the island now have a choice between the most affordable and reliable vacation packages and discounts the agencies have to offer. Before, tourists had to pay separately to visit Hon Tam Island. Now, visitors have the option to travel with just one boat tour company if they want to go on an island-hopping trip. On the other hand, this encourages the travel agencies to offer more enticing and reasonable tourist packages for their clients.

Aside from its glorious sandy beaches and breathtaking palm trees, Hon Tam Island is also famous for its crystal-blue waters. And unlike other typical tourist spots, Hon Tam Island offers pottery, brocade, rice-wine making and other traditional crafts to its visitors. This makes the trip even more interesting and memorable.

For the total satisfaction and enjoyment of its clients, Hon Tam Tourist Site offers scuba diving, snorkeling and kayaking. And since more tourists are expected during the holidays, the establishment now included jet-skiing and water-skiing to its line of water sports. Entrance to Hon Tam Tourist Site costs VND70,000 for adults and VND50,000 for children.
