Ho Chi Minh to Open Bus Route for Tourists

Early this month, the ${bigcity_Ho_Chi_Minh_City:"Ho Chi Minh City"} Transport Department made announcements that a bus route connecting major tourist destinations in the city center will be available beginning September 15. As such will allow visitors to easily move from one attraction to the next, the move is expected to better improve tourism in the city.

Departing from Ben Thanh Bus Station at the Quach Thi Trang roundabout, bus number 127 will stop at major tourism attractions including the Reunification Palace on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden and several popular museums in the downtown area.

Ben Thanh Bus Station is located across Ben Thanh Market and September 23rd Park. Just a few minutes walk from the westerner quarter, it is the perfect route for visitors to begin their tour.  The neighborhood of westerner quarter is filled with hotels and foreign eateries centered on Pham Ngu Lao Street in District 1.

The route is 9.8 kilometers (6 miles) and takes 35 minutes to complete. The line will run from 5:30 a.m. to 8:12 p.m. with 8-10 minutes between each bus. Ten new buses, each designed to serve handicapped passengers in wheelchairs, will be utilized on the route. The buses also feature an automatic ticket selling system. Tickets will cost VND4,000 ($0.19) for the whole route or VND90,000 for a monthly pass.
