Haiphong City is about to become a coastal tourism centre in the Northern region. And with a development plan created by the municipal Party Committee, the prime tourist spots in the city will be developed into national and even international tourist attractions.

The development plan covers the period from 2016 – 2020 and with a vision to 2030. It aims not only to make Haiphong City a chief tourism site, but to make tourism itself the major economic sector, a sustainable source of livelihood for the city.

One significant tourist attraction at Haiphong is the Cat Ba Archipelago which is targeted to become a world-class destination at that. At the same time, ecological conservation will be observed in order to maintain the natural state of the place.

Haiphong City aims not only to become a popular tourist site but also to preserve its natural environment at the same time. Moreover, it will also make specific efforts in promoting its culture, safeguarding security and defence, and keeping social order intact.

In order to make the plan a reality, the city has implemented concrete steps such as boosting their promotional efforts, strengthening human resource training and creating new policies for the sole purpose of attracting potential investors into the capital.

With this development plan, Haiphong City expects to experience an average annual growth of 8.2% in tourist arrivals and 8.9% in tourism revenue by the year 2020.
