Ha Long Bay: 3rd in 29 Best Places to Visit in Southeast Asia

Ha Long Bay ranked third in the 29 Best Places to Visit in Southeast Asia in a survey conducted by Touropia, a famous foreign travel website.

Ha Long Bay earned the top spot because of its magical limestone karst islands which come in thousands and in different shapes and sizes. Some of these islands even have lakes and grottoes in them, adding more to its beauty.

To make the place even more inviting, a number of attractions have been added in the recent years. A cable car line 2.2 kilometres long was built reaching from Bai Chay Beach to Ba Deo Mountain. It is equipped with two cabins that can hold up to 230 people per ride; 2,000 people per hour; and is raised 188.8 metres above the ground. The cable car line is so long that it was named the biggest in the world by no less than the Guinness World Records.

The Sun Wheel is a ferris wheel run by state-of-the-art Japanese technology. It has 64 cabins and can carry 1,200 people per hour. A wax museum displays life-like wax figures of world-famous people. Ha Long Bay is located at Quang Ninh Province, Northeastern Vietnam.

Hoi An, Hanoi and Sapa also made it to the list, ranking 15th, 25th and 27th respectively. Hoi An is praised for its spectacular view especially by the Thu Bon River. It also has a charming old port lined with ancient architecture, traditional wooden houses and hundreds of tailor shops which sell both clothing and souvenirs. Hanoi has just the right mix of old and contemporary world wherein tourists for instance can witness local people perform both traditional tai chi chuan exercises and modern aerobics. At the Old Quarter, visitors can enjoy Asian and French architecture in an open-air museum. For the adventure seekers, Sapa is perfect for trekking in the mountains and touring in the rice paddies. It also has traditional villages and ethnic minorities are also a must-visit.

With its natural beauty and added attractions, it’s no wonder that Southeast Asia is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
