Danang Preparing to Welcome Tens of Thousands for 2011 International Fireworks Competition

The annually held ${bigcity_Da_Nang:"Da Nang"} International Fireworks Competition, known as among the biggest events in Vietnam and one of the most looked forward to festivals of the year, is officially set for April 29-30, 2011. For two nights, the skies along the Han River banks in Hai Chau and Son Tra Districts will be beautifully lit with world-class pyro display that will dazzle its tens of thousands of spectators.

Participants of the event will come from 4 different countries. The first night will feature Jubilee Fireworks team from UK and Hanwha team of South Korea to compete with each other, along with the host city of Danang. The theme chosen for the competition is "The Twinkling Han River”. A magical pyro performance will take place on the second night by Parente Fireworks A&C SNC of Italia and Panda Fireworks of China. Music, dance shows and lantern float showcases will further entertain the crowd during the entire festival.

The surging number of tourists who came to the city’s firework competitions in the previous years is expected to increase remarkably that more people are looking forward to the event. The city fell short of hotel and lodging spaces from last year’s approximately 80,000 tourists even most of them placed reservations 3 months ahead of the festival. The number was 1.5 times more than those who came in 2009, of which, the growing trend is expected to continue. With that, tourists have now started booking their accommodations early to ensure a comfortable stay.
Along with the upcoming huge event, the city has also launched a computer fireworks display, entries of which are continually pouring in as its December 31, 2010 deadline for entries is nearing. Its awards ceremony will take place on January 30, 2011.
