Central Coast Inaugurates Map of Tourism Products and Technical Report

A technical report and a map of its regional tourism products have been introduced in the Central Coast of Vietnam by the European Union-funded Environmentally and Socially Responsible Tourism Capacity Development Programme (EU-ESRT).

The map was launched to serve as a guide for tourism offices for research and design plans for local tourism development in the three regional provinces of Thua-Thien Hue, Quang Nam and Da Nang. The technical report on the other hand was created to improve the “destination management and marketing efforts” for the tourism products of the same provinces at regional level. Both function by assessing the present situation and then naming the products in the region that are most important and therefore should be prioritized.

In order to identify which regional tourism products should be given priority, three strategies were utilized: connecting key cultural heritage products by strengthening the Heritage Road touring route, connecting key coastal products into an intra-provincial coastal beach tourism hub, and connecting key nature and community-based tourism products by developing a Nature Trail touring route circuit.

EU-ESRT experts who made the map and report also came up with ideas in order to further solidify the regional tourism products of the Central Coast. According to them, the beaches, coastal and inland waters of the region are its strongest keys in enticing more tourists to visit the area, specifically the beaches of Lang Co, My Khe, Pham Van Dong, Cua Dai, An Bang, Cham Island and the Han River in Da Nang. Proper management of these natural sites are crucial in the development and success of tourism in the region.

The EU-ESRT programme will develop more technical reports and regional tourism products maps in other significant areas, this time in the eight North West provinces and three Mekong Delta localities.
