Binh Lap: Humble Yet Captivating

Binh Lap: Humble Yet Captivating

Khanh Hoa is a coastal province known for its amazing beaches. And there’s one that may not be as famous as most, but is worth visiting because of its unassuming yet captivating charm.

Located at Cam Lap Commune, Cam Ranh District, Binh Lap Beach is a paradise with its sparkling clear waters, refreshing salt-smelling air, powder-like sand and tranquil shoreline. Moreover, the place has other interesting features to offer, something which makes it even more inviting.

But while Binh Lap today enjoys a boost in its tourism sector, it wasn’t always this way. In fact, it used to be the poorest village in the commune, mostly because of its isolated location, set between the sea and mountain, thus seemingly inaccessible to business opportunities. Small-scale fishing used to be the primary source of income. Life in the area started getting better when the local residents developed lobster breeding and putt up stalls to sell fresh seafood everyday. Grilled lobster was the specialty, something which visitors always look forward to.

Aside from its own endearing beach, Binh Lap has also three “mini-beaches” that are each unique yet all equally beautiful: Lao, Kinh and Ngang. Robinson, Chuoi and Ong Gia beaches are other spectacular spots in the area. An hour’s travel is Binh Hung Island which is also a spectacular destination.

A stream can also be found at Binh Lap, a literally fresh alternative to its number of saltwater beaches. Breathtaking coral reefs and fishes can be seen clearly below, which guests can also enjoy watching through a glass bottom boat that they can rent.

While the beaches and islands alone are already worth the stay, Binh Lap has other features it can boast to its guests. The Hon Chut Lighthouse is a popular tourist attraction because of its old charm, standing tall and steady for the last 100 years. Cam Ranh Bay offers a spectacular view of nature with boats and lobster farms adding to the whole appeal.

Several accommodations are available at Binh Lap Village. But for those who want to have a first-hand experience at life in the area, home stays are recommended. Food at Binh Lap is guaranteed to satisfy its visitors.

While Binh Lap’s inaccessibility used to be its stumbling block to progress, today new roads have been built, as well as different modes of transportation to reach the place. A train station is available to bring visitors to the area, while motorbikes can be hired to go around the place. With this newfound development and potential, Binh Lap will surely bring in more people to its haven and showcase nature as it should be seen and appreciated.
