2013 is the National Tourism Year in the Red River Delta – Hai Phong. In celebration of this special event, Bac Ninh has organized several activities to honor the traditional cultural values and at the same time improve the tourism image of the province.

An arts program centering on Quan Ho Bac Ninh folk songs (Love Duets of Bac Ninh) is organized with the purpose of preserving and advertising the cultural values in Bac Ninh province. With 547 traditional festivals to commemorate, Bac Ninh has quite some responsibility under its wing. Thus, to ensure the proper management of such a grand endeavor, the Bac Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has ordered the provincial party committee and people's committee to implement certain specific actions: documents to be issues; travel agencies to provide new tourist packages into action; and relevant department to adopt specific and practical activities in order to diversify tourism products for visitors.

The new proposed tourist packages include tours in Duong River and But Thap Pagoda – Phu Lang Pottery Village. But aside from these, Bac Ninh will also offer seven local tours and three inter-provincial tours in the following areas: Hanoi-Bac Ninh-Hai Duong-Quang Ninh; Hanoi-Bac Giang-Lang Son; and Hanoi-Bac Ninh-Quang Ninh-Hai Phong.

Two main tourism areas will be developed at Bac Ninh. The first area is the Bac Ninh City – Tu Son-Ho Town with Bac Ninh as the main tourism center in the province. It will hold the main responsibility of “regulating” tourism activities. The second area includes the Southern Duong River which runs from Thuan Thanh District to Gia Binh District. This area has naturally breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage sites such as the Thien Thai mountain, Dai Bi Pagoda, and Cao Lo Vuong Temple. Traditional Vietnamese cultural values of crafts are still being preserved in these areas up to this day. These places will therefore boost tourism in the province.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh has always been efficient in its duty to promote and develop tourism in the province. Especially between the periods 2011-2020, the department has carefully and specifically ensured the preservation of traditional cultural heritage of Bac Ninh in corelation to its tourism development. This resulted in tourism being an integral part of the economic sector of Bach Ninh and the province to actually transform into a modern city in the future.

Because of the significance of the preservation and promotion of such traditional cultural heritages, spiritual culture, old architecture, arts and crafts, and other aspects of Bac Ninh province, the tourism development plan of 2011-2020 was approved urgently and is deemed as one of the country's biggest cultural centers.
