Appreciating Nature and Culture: Ta Phin  Village, Sapa

Located in Ta Phin Commune, Sa Pa District, about 12km northeast of Sa Pa Town, Ta Phin Village is an attractive destination for domestic and foreign visitors.  

Contrary to other tour destinations, a visit to Ta Phin village introduces a whole new experience to guests. Apart from the impressive terraced rice fields, streams and natural pristine landscape, tourists will get a chance to see historical relics, unique architectures, do eco-tourism activities and community tourism activities which acquaint the visitors to a rich culture that has not been damaged by the modern life.

Guests coming to the village are entertained with the Red Dao’s traditional cultural activities like folk games, witnessing wedding ceremonies, “Bai Tram”, “Mua chuong”, rituals and the Gau Tao festival.     The village is also known for its traditional handicrafts and hand-made fabric products. Coming to the village, an immediate sight would be Red Dao women grouped together sewing richly-decorative woven fabric.

Since 1998, the village has officially become the “brocade village”, where tourists can find the distinctively hand-made brocades made by ethnic people. These fabric is transformed to many other attractive products like purse, scarf, handbags, clothes and coat. Ta Phin village is also the main supply of brocades for shops in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City who in turn exports their products outside the country.  

Ta Phin village boasts of its ancient monastery built since October 1942 in the forest which even up to today, have retained its specific unique architecture. Another must-visit is the Ta Phin cave which has many valuable research, archeology and sightseeing. Visitors can also choose to go for a long walk through the rice paddies and mountain views and simply enjoy nature at its best.
