3G Mobile Broadband Established at Mount Fansipan

Christened the “Roof of Indochina” being the highest mountain in Vietnam, Mount Fansipan now becomes even more enticing to tourists, local and international alike, as a 3G mobile broadband service has just been installed in the famous tourist spot.

VinaPhone is the telecommunications company and the pioneer provider of the revolutionary internet service at Mount Fansipan. It went through more than 50 days of work setting up its first transceiver station at 3,045 meters above ground and 42 megabytes per second within a three to four kilometres distance from the top of the mountain. The station is able to provide mobile phone calls and internet service, enabling visitors at Fansipan mountain to share their photos, videos and other experiences in real time, thus making it more enjoyable and memorable.

But more important than social media sharing, the mobile broadband internet service aims to keep the safety of the visitors at Mount Fansipan secure by creating a direct and quick line to the fire department, rescue operations and resource management in case of emergencies and untoward incidents. In 2014, two hikers went missing which raised the alarm and consciousness of the Hoang Lien National Park management, where Fansipan mountain is located. One of them was luckily saved after he himself was able to contact his family and his country’s embassy in Hanoi after being lost and hungry in the said area, but the other one was unfortunately never found after accidentally separating himself from his hiking group.

With the new high technology available at Mount Fansipan today, tourists are assured of direct, constant and fast communication with their families, friends and the proper authorities, making their experience more exciting, memorable and most importantly, safe.
