A stage festival for historical plays will be held from August 19 to 24 in ${bigcity_Hanoi:"Hanoi"}, announced the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at a press conference yesterday.

The festival will feature many works which have won awards at professional competitions for scripts and plays in different genres, including ‘Tuong’ (Classical Drama), ‘Cheo’ (Popular Opera), ‘Cai Luong’ (Reformed Theatre), drama and folk singing performed by 14 professional art troupes.

Audiences will have the chance to see a variety of performances such as ‘The Country’s Spirit’ by the Dao Tan Tuong Theatre, ‘The Royal Robe’ by the Ninh Binh Cheo Theatre, ‘Loyalty to Thang Long’ by the Vietnam National Cailuong Theatre, ‘Beauty and Hero’ by the Vietnam Drama Theatre and ‘Ho Chi Minh – a Red Memory’ by the Hue Opera Theatre. All of the performances praise national heroes and great people of culture associated with Thang Long-Hanoi throughout its 1000-year history.
